What movie-length games should my girlfriend watch me play?

Dear Mother, I've made a horrible mistake.

Sadly I decided to show my girlfriend who knows nothing about video games Ni No Kuni. I have been amazed how interested she is in my hobby and she also really enjoyed me playing a bit of Resident Evil 4! She loves Ghibli movies so I thought it was a no brainer. I was right she loves it! HOWEVER. We don’t have that much free time together right now until later in the year when we move in and Ni No Kuni is far too long. I was wondering if you all had any suggestions of short almost movie length games she could enjoy watching me play. We are working towards getting the controller skills better as well so we can do a run of It Takes Two eventually!

Hey Co-op Hopeful,

Don't be too down on yourself. So many of us have made some version of this mistake. Once a friend of mine insisted he show me the director's cut versions of Lord of the Rings (because they're better!), and I don't think I've ever finished them because the night eventually ended and I didn't want to spend our next 10 hangouts watching the same series. Sue me!

The theatrical cuts might've been a better entry point for me because of time investment alone, especially since we wanted to enjoy the films together and we simply didn't have that much time to spend. Once you start living with your partner, those nightly hangs can start to feel a bit monotonous if you watch the same show/play the same game/do the same routine every single night. All of this to say, I think you're exactly on the right track looking for games that are a bit shorter, but still make for fun viewing pleasure for your less gaming-inclined girlfriend.
