South of Midnight is a master class in cultural appreciation
I’m a French Black woman whose favorite game of 2025 was not Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. And how could it be, when South of Midnight was released around the same time?
"I don't want to force my nesting partner to try to get into exactly the same things that I'm into when we already have so much important stuff in common. Am I just looking for a reason to be anxious?"
How do I fight the compulsion of falling into the comfort of the same game again and again, and play new games, see new worlds instead?
"Are there any good games, new or old, that encourage learning this mysterious combination of moving, pointing, and shooting that I seem to lack?"
It does take some intentional learning time to get used to using one joystick to move and the other to look around
"I turn out to get really motion sick, and sometimes get visual migraines, especially from first person games."
"I always end up just saying some variation of 'It's very interesting and fun!'"
It's never too early to start training a baby gamer, right?
"When you’re acting in good faith, it’s hard to understand that other people simply aren’t giving you that good faith back."
"I’m about to make a big life move away from my family into a completely different, opposite time zone..."
"What can I do to stay on track with my games? Should I even try to?"
